Child Care Wait List FAQ - Two Girls Smiling Outside

Child Care Wait List FAQs

Family situations can change overnight, making a child care opening available sooner than originally anticipated. Feel free to contact me for a wait list update, or if you have any questions not answered here. Thank you for your patience!

Because openings at Amy & Kids Co. are few and far between I recommend filling out the wait list form as early as possible, even before baby is born!

Nope! There is no cost to parents to be on the wait list, simply register with Kinside, our wait list management system. Depending on how long your family is on the wait list there may be policy, procedure, and/or tuition fee changes between the time you register and your child's first day of child care

The length of the wait list varies, but is generally longer for children under two years old. Amy & Kids Co. has a licensed capacity of up to eight children if all are two years old or older, but the number of children I can care for is reduced depending on how many children are under the age of two.

Unfortunately due to many factors, being on the wait list does not guarantee a spot at Amy & Kids Co. You may not need care when an opening is available, or the spot that opens up doesn't fit your child care needs. Being on the wait list does give you a better chance than a family who isn't on the list.

Amy & Kids Co. is a year-round program so children can enroll anytime there is an opening. That said, most openings become available in late summer or early fall when older children graduate from my program into formal school. Sometimes a family's circumstances change and openings become available at other times of the year.

You can add both children to the wait list by registering on Kinside, our wait list management system. When it's time to enroll you will pay the enrollment fee and first week's tuition for each child.

You will receive an email from Kinside, our wait list management system. Kinside will send you regular updates, and let you know if an opening becomes available.

I'm happy to have you visit and take a tour! However, in order to provide a safe and secure environment for the children and to avoid upsetting their daily routine, please make an appointment instead of just dropping in.

Generally not, because most families need full time care. Occasionally I enroll a part time child, then the days that child doesn't attend would be open.

Nope! Your family will maintain it's place on the list regardless of your child's age.

Openings are offered first to families and children who seem to be the best fit for the program, and whose requested schedule most closely matches the available opening. For instance, a full time opening will be offered to a family requesting full time care before a family looking for part time care. In addition, priority is given to siblings of currently enrolled children.

The most important thing to do is get on the wait list as soon as possible. Requesting full time care may also help you obtain a spot sooner, because it can be a challenge to find two part time families with schedules that work together.

In theory you should have at least 2 weeks' notice, but sometimes a family leaves before their last 2 weeks are up so the opening is available sooner. If you're offered an opening after a tour you have 24 hours to accept or decline the opening.

Because openings are rare and in high demand it's vital that you respond to schedule an interview and tour right away. When an opening is available all the families whose needs fit the opening will be contacted and interviews will be scheduled on a "first come first served" basis.

If an opening becomes available before you're ready you can choose to remain on the wait list and hope there will be another opening when you're ready. The other option is to pay a Holding Fee to reserve the opening until you're ready.

If your child care needs change I'd appreciate a quick email or text so I can keep the wait list current. Feel free to send updates to your information at any time.

As a rule I don't recommend other centers or providers, but our area Child Care Resource and Referral can help you find regulated child care.

Schedules

Full and part time schedules are available for children two and older. Younger children and families needing more than 30 hours of care per week require full time schedules.

Unfortunately there's nothing left to do but wait. In the meantime, pop into the Parent Corner and follow us on social media to see what's happening in the program right now.

Wait List Updates

You want the best for your child so it's hard to wait for an opening. I promise I won't forget about you, but feel free to ask where you are on the waiting list anytime.
